How paying works
Play your first round free
Install the app, find your course, start a round. No card, no sign-up. The free round is the real thing, Lock Screen and all.
Pick a plan when you want the next one
Buy a single round when you get to the course, or a month or a year if you play often. The purchase goes through Apple with Face ID, like any app.
Cancel whenever, in Apple's settings
Settings, your name, Subscriptions, Yardage. You keep access to the end of what you paid for. We never see your card and can't charge you ourselves.
Which plan, honestly
Play a handful of rounds a year: buy single rounds. Play most weeks in season: the annual plan costs less per round than a summer of single rounds. Somewhere in between, or trying it for a month of golf trips: monthly. What you're paying for
- The number: GPS distance to the center of the green, on screen and on the Lock Screen, for every hole of every round.
- The map: 14,987 US courses in all 50 states, bundled in the app, updated with app updates.
- The absence of everything else: no ads, no account, no analytics SDKs, no upsell screens.
- A person at support@theyardageapp.com who reads every email.
Questions about paying
Do I need an account?
No. There is no sign-up. Purchases go through your Apple ID like any App Store purchase, and Apple never shares your payment details with us.
How do I cancel?
On your iPhone: Settings, then your name at the top, then Subscriptions, then Yardage. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep access until the period you paid for ends. There's no account with us to close and nobody to email.
What exactly is a single round?
One round, for up to eight hours, counted from when you start the round in the app, not from when you buy it. It ends when you end the round (or if you leave the course), and eighteen holes behind a slow group still fits.
Do the monthly and annual plans renew automatically?
Yes, until you cancel, which you can do at any time in your iPhone's Subscriptions screen. Apple sends its usual reminders and handles the billing.
I got a new phone. Do I have to buy it again?
Not for a subscription. Install Yardage on the new phone and tap Restore Purchases on the plans screen (Settings inside the app, then View Plans), and your monthly or annual plan comes back through your Apple ID. A single round is a one-time purchase, so it can't be restored; use it on the phone you bought it on.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple, not by us. Apple's request page is reportaproblem.apple.com. If something in the app went wrong, email support@theyardageapp.com as well so we can fix it.
Is the beta free?
Yes. While the TestFlight beta runs, testers get unlimited rounds at no charge. The App Store version starts you with a free first round too. The beta page has the details.
